About YKI

YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys has been serving clients in Japan and worldwide ever since its establishment in 1978 by patent attorney Kenji Yoshida (the ‘Y’ in YKI). From a single practitioner concentrating on patent prosecution in electronics and the then brand-new field of computers and software, YKI has grown into a full-service firm with 27 patent attorneys and a total staff of over 90 providing patent, utility model, design, and trademark related services in almost every technical field. In 2004, YKI opened a second office in Tokyo, and in 2005 a third office in Japan, in Japan’s traditional industrial center of Osaka.

YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys has always strived to build client trust by offering honest, timely service that understands and matches our clients’ real needs. YKI has built lengthy, direct relationships with overseas clients who are able to direct their own intellectual property strategy in Japan, while supporting many more through a wide network of relationships with associates worldwide.

YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys strives first of all to make sure that all communication is clear, so that all our clients and associates can have the understanding they require to make decisions in their own interests. YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys is today one of the top thirty firms in Japan for intellectual property prosecution, and has years of in-house experience in licensing, negotiation, and litigation support.
