About YKI
YKI Patent Attorneys was founded on May 1, 1978, by Patent Attorney Kenji Yoshida. Since its founding, YKI has been offering, to clients within Japan and overseas, services in connection with prosecution and litigation in Japan related to patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks over a wide range of technical fields. In 2004, YKI opened their Second Office in a location close to the Head Office in Tokyo, and in 2005, opened another office in Osaka, the second largest city in Japan. Currently with a staff of approximately 90 members, including 21 patent attorneys having considerable experience in many fields, YKI is meeting the various needs of its clients in registering, protecting, and utilizing intellectual property rights in a fair manner.
It is YKI's goal to always be a trusted partner in intellectual property matters for our clients, and to offer services of content and quality that is in accord with the clients' needs. YKI particularly has a great deal of experience in assisting overseas clients with prosecution and litigation in Japan. From a number of companies abroad, YKI has been accepting direct requests to represent them in Japan without any intermediation by agents in their own countries. Based on such experience, YKI is able to fully understand the various needs of the overseas clients, and take speedy actions while carrying out clear communication.
In litigation, our highly experienced patent attorneys provide a supporting role to the attorneys-at-law acting as main counsel, for speedy settlement of disputes. YKI provides appropriate assistance for allowing the clients to efficiently and effectively protect and exercise intellectual property rights in Japan.
