Greeting from President

Since its founding in 1978, YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys has always strived to provide our growing client base with services tailored to match both their specific needs and the evolving reality of the intellectual property world. To ensure our ability to continue to serve our clients in this evolving world, YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys in 2010 became a professional corporation, a step we took to solidify the continuity and integrity of our firm as the world changes around us. As of April 1, 2014, it is my honour to lead this new corporation as president, grateful that I will be able to rely on the continuing presence of founding partner and first president, Kenji Yoshida.

The intellectual property world is, of course, based on change, and the idea that innovation can be valuable. As technology and the concepts of intellectual property continue to rapidly evolve, YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys will also continue to not just evolve, but to innovate and develop the professional skill set of each member of our team, so that, as a team, we will obtain patents with real value and covering all essential features, register trademarks that will protect real brands and businesses, enforce the full value of copyrights, and bring to each negotiation and litigated dispute a level of preparation and depth of knowledge that will force recognition of the merits of our clients’ property.

Long ago, we recognized that the intellectual property world is global, and requires a global strategy. YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys has evolved into this world by building a large international network and actively participating in professional organizations in our field. Through the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), we have developed especially deep connections throughout Asia. Through this network, we get a bigger picture of the potential value of intellectual property, and through our network our clients and associates often realize value of creations and innovations that would otherwise have been lost.

We at YKI Intellectual Property Attorneys remain committed to providing our clients worldwide with the highest quality intellectual property legal services. We will continue to stress training and education, and continue to develop and deepen our international ties. We evolve, so that our commitment never changes.

Jun ISHIDA,
President
