In the past 20 years, YKI Patent Attorneys have filed literally tens of thousands of trademark applications on behalf of our clients. We use this experience to smooth prosecution and reduce costs for our clients.
For example, as part of our standard service, we conduct a search of all existing registrations before filing any trademark application. When we find a potential impediment, we then work with our clients to modify the application before filing. In this way, we avoid rejections and increase the chances that our client's trademarks will be allowed on the first action. We save our clients the cost of responding to an avoidable action.

To file a trademark application in Japan, we will require the following information:
A Power of Attorney document is not required for filing an application.
If the Japanese application is to claim priority of an already-filed application we will also require the following information concerning the priority application:
A priority document (certified copy of the priority application) must be filed within three months from the filing date.
In most cases, we can complete filing of a basic trademark application for under 115,000 yen, including official fees and other disbursements. Claiming priority or more than one class of goods or services will require additional fees, as shown on our complete Trademark Fee Schedule.
